this is not the right thread for this but 1-dont care 2-based on a comic (im sure) so on topic-ish and 3-i will not go out of my way to "correctly" bitch about shield
superheros are fucking gay. comics are fucking lame. tv is horribly awful.
so i ended up watching a few episodes of shield because my bf watches it and by sharing a one-room apartment we share everything, and besides the bad dialogue, very predictable plot points, and the constant need to remind the audience of every previous episode because the writers think the viewers are dumb, something very specific with the latest episode pissed me off much more than normal: there's a scene where bad guy female impersonates good guy female by putting on her clothes and wearing a mask that makes her face look like the other gal's (jesus christ, the length of that sentence) but what pissed me off was bad guys thinking that would work. sure, im probably missing some detail from not being obsessed with this dumb fantasy world so maybe bad guy actually knew good guy, but in the show all you know is bad gal is reading a casefile on good gal, steals her dna, and has a voice recording of hers. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION TO PRETEND TO BE SOMEONE, especially if you're trying to fool PEOPLE, who MODERATELY to INTIMATELY know her.
here is a very detailed reason why that would not work:
they did not look similar
bad gal was only wearing
a mask,
that covered just the face. so unless bad guys meticulously planned for an infiltration [they didn't, it just abruptly happened on the show] and scouted for the perfect body double- size, shape, build, skin tone, etc- they should expect to get discovered fairly quickly. just because youre wearing the same dress and a mask doesnt mean you look like the other person
bad guy didn't know good guy
to my knowledge, all bad guy knew was her bad guys' organization's info on good guy, so useless shit like school records, training, maybe family, but not the mannerisms to make an infiltration believable. all the expensive technology to change your voice and hologram face over your own won't fool people when you're acting out of character, which SURPRISE NOT-FUCKING-SURPRISE that's exactly how male good guy was able to tell you were an imposter and then VERBALLY tell you (which is dumb) how he knew. but noooo, bad guys think it's ok to be exposed to EVERY team member (and a mercenary the team has hired) and spend a lengthy car ride with the director- the person she probably interacts the most with- and bad guys dont even plan for the possibility of good guys knowing its a trap
pretending to be someone else never works
bad guys should just know this by now. at least two out of every three pretending-to-be-someone-else missions go wrong, they're discovered and they fail- and the one that works always ALWAYS self-reveals for no reason whatsoever so those missions are less about stealth and more about bragging. those are awful odds, and when you're a bad guy group those kind of plans should not even be tolerated. the best infiltration and deceit is by double crossing and turn coating, get with it, baddies
i just want to rant about how this idea is only possible from the minds of lonely men who don't interact with women so therefore view them as easily confusable and interchangeable

You know what's been upsetting me? Gotham.
Like, they took a GREAT ginger actor and barely use him. Meanwhile, they've got Jayden Pinkett Will Smith doing a terrible job at being a bad guy...and they fucking involve Bruce Wayne in extremely sensitive crimes...and he's like 10.
Seriously, how would they NOT know who batman is if they spent Bruce's whole life going to his house and being like, "Boy I sure wish we had someone around to deal with all of Gotham's fucking crime because we're basically useless"?!
And the girl they picked to be Selena Kyle can't move her lizard face.
It's terrible
Bad job.
Same with Flash. Flash is basically Arrow. All fucked.

I just started but Saga of the Swamp Thing is really tearing into me right now. Only on chapter 6, but the coworker who turned me onto the series told me it gets waaaay deeper. By chapter three I knew it would be too much-- the part about "it's a red and angry world, where red things happen", to which I was sitting in a pool of my own blood, and I had to close the book because my world was too red already. Damn. Though some of the other shit getting real eye-rolling corny (can't blame 'em, product of their time) I hope to read more of this
